Police arraign woman, 29, for allegedly assaulting a minor

The Police on Thursday arraigned a 31-year-old woman, Kemi Iwasorun, before an Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly assaulting a minor.
Iwasorun, whose address was not provided, is facing a one count charge of assault, to which she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, ASP Aminu Isaac, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May. 9, 2024 at a Farm Settlement Community Primary School, Odogunyan area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.
Isaac said that the defendant allegedly wipped an eight-year old boy with a cane, causing partial blindness on his right eye.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes Section 135 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. B.A. Sonuga granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with a surety in like sum.
The magistrate adjourned the case until March. 3 for mention.
