Troops Nab Woman Trying to Pick Ransom for Kidnappers

The 45-year-old Idah was arrested in a Blue Volkswagen Sharon vehicle, with registration number Rivers SKN-390AA.

The Nigerian Army arrested a woman who was attempting to extort ransoms on behalf of her abduction syndicates.

Janet Igohia, a 31-year-old woman who was apprehended, was allegedly involved in the attempt to steal N1.5 million from the victim's relatives.

Igohia purportedly disclosed that she is currently wed to Voryor Gata, a former second in command to the late Gana Terwase and a notorious criminal.

At this time, she is reportedly wed to the commander of a violent extremist organisation in the southern region of Taraba.

She claimed to have been previously wed to prominent criminals, including the late Terkibi Gemaga AKA Mopol, a notorious abductor who was executed by troops five years ago.

She disclosed that she was previously wed to Gana Terwase, an additional notorious criminal who was executed three years ago during a Joint Special Force Operation.

Acting Assistant Director of Public Relations for the 6 Brigade Army, Lt. Olubodunde Oni, issued the following statement: Janet Igohia, the female assailant, was apprehended subsequent to acquiring N1.5 million.

Suspected infamous gunrunner Joshua Dutse Idah, who supplies criminals in Taraba state with arms and ammunition, was apprehended in Ibi town, Ibi local government area, state, en route to Katsina state for supplies, according to the statement.

Idah Rivers SKN-390AA, age 45, was apprehended in a blue Volkswagen Sharon bearing the vehicle identification number.

"Dutse admitted during interrogation that he was travelling to Katsina State to deliver AK-47 rifles and that he had been partially compensated with three hundred thousand naira."

"Through an exhaustive search of the vehicle, the troops discovered and recovered three AK-47 rifle magazines, one PK machine gun, and 399 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition."

Furthermore, military personnel stationed in the Mararaba Baissa community of the Donga Local Government Area apprehended two additional individuals suspected of gunrunning. These individuals were implicated in extrajudicial killings and cattle rustling. They were in possession of two Techno mobile phones and a total of 664,000 Naira, which were obtained through their illicit activities.

Furthermore, information regarding the intentions of extremist groups and insurgents in the vicinity of the Sai and Chanchanji communities to establish a drop zone where the relatives of kidnapped victims were instructed to deposit ransom money was obtained from reliable sources on January 25, 2024.

"According to this information, Chanchanji-detached troops awaited the suspect area, and at approximately 10:00 am, 31-year-old Janet Igohia was apprehended for allegedly obtaining N1,500,000.00 (one million five hundred thousand naira) as ransom for a kidnapped victim."
