Initiative for Leadership Development and Change (ILDC) has commended the Nigeria Police Force for its role in the release of the abducted 287 Kuriga schoolchildren in Kaduna State.

Chief Ugochukwu Nnam, President of ILDC, gave the commendation in an interview with the newsmen in Abuja on Monday.

Supreme News reports that 287 Kuriga primary and secondary school pupils and students were released by terrorists on Sunday.

The school children, aged five to 18 were abducted on March 7 from their schools in Kuriga.

Nnam, who expressed profound joy over the release of the children, ascribed it to the gallantry of the Nigeria Police Force, ably led by Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General of Police.

He said media reports indicating that the police played a major role in information gathering and dissemination, which led to the release of the children, were a welcomed development.

Nnam said the release of the children was indicative of President Bola Tinubu’s administration's ability to provide effective security for every Nigerian.

The ILDC boss condemned the rampant kidnapping of innocent Nigerians, especially children.

He expressed confidence in the police under Egbetekun to continue to partner with other security agencies to degrade terrorism.

“This is why we are seeing unconditional release of abductees like the Kuriga primary and secondary school children.

“As people of good conscience and patriots, we join all Nigerians to celebrate the release of the 287 children on Sunday.

“These children did not deserve to be kidnapped, whatsoever the provocation, because they are the very future of our beloved nation,’’ he said.

The ILDC chief called on Nigerian security operatives to work as a team by deploying more preventive security techniques to neutralise the intentions of terrorists.

According to him, intelligence-gathering networks are paramount to fighting insecurity.
