The German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, has asked China to exert influence on Russia to bring about an end to the war in Ukraine.
Scholz said during a meeting with Chinese Prime Minister Li Kegqiang on Friday in Beijing that China was a great country and that it had responsibility for peace in the world.
He added that Beijing and Berlin had agreed that Russian rhetoric about nuclear weapons was unacceptable.
He also dismissed criticism of his visit, saying it was good and right that he was in Beijing.
