2023: Work resumes after New Year break in Osun

 Workers on Tuesday officially resumed duty in Osogbo, Osun State capital, for the 2023 year's operation after Monday's public holiday by the Federal Government.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that commercial ventures, businesses and banks in Osogbo that were closed for the celebration, were fully back in operation as early as 8.a.m.

Federal Government establishments, the state and local government secretariats were equally opened for the year's official businesses.

Checks by a Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at Olorunda and Osogbo local government secretariats, both in Osogbo, revealed that workers were back to their duty posts.

Workers at the state secretariat in Abere and the Osun State House of Assembly also resumed duties fully in their various offices.

Mr Adeniyi Aderogba, a state government worker, told NAN that he was happy and grateful to God for sparing his life to witness a brand new year.

He said the 2022 was full of turbulence and that he was glad that he and his family survived the economic hardships and that he believed this year would be better.

"I thank God for my life and family. Last year was tough but God saw us through it and I believe God will make things easier for us in Nigeria this year.

"I, however, pray that the election of this year produces God-fearing leaders that will prioritise the well being and safety of Nigerians," he said.

Mrs Abosede Raheem, a local government worker, expressed the hopeful that 2023 would be better for workers in the state, following the promises and actions taken so far by the new government in the state.

Raheem said, " We have a renewed hope that the new government in Osun would take care of workers' welfare and pay our outstanding salary arrears.

"At least, we receive a very impressive Christmas package in 2022, and this is a hopeful sign and goodwill from the new administration that they will do better."
