Kwara Education Ministry leverages radio -based learning for new term

The Kwara Ministry. of Education and Human Capital Development has introduced a radio-based learning initiative aimed at expanding learning access beyond the conventional classroom.

This is contained in a statement by the Ministry’s Press Secretary, Mr Peter Amogbonjaye, on Sunday in Ilorin.

He said that the initiative which will commence on Jan. 5, underscores the creativity of the Kwara government.

According to him, it is supported by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) as well as the Nigeria Learning Passport.

He said that the Commissioner, Dr Lawal Olohungbebe, had said that the radio programme will run in 99.1Midland FM at 11a.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays.

”Then it will run at 1p.m. on Wednesdays and at 2.30p.m. on Fridays.

”Additional radio stations will soon be added to widen access across the state,” he said

The statement also said that the commissioner has ordered the reopening of schools in the state, on Monday, Jan. 5. with exception of areas undergoing special security measures.

“We welcome our children and teachers back to school across the state.

“Learning activities are to resume immediately in all but areas earlier identified to be under special security surveillance.

”This structured school resumption is designed to keep our children from harm’s way amid renewed security operations.

”Normal school activities will resume in such places very soon,” he said.
