The Chairman, Badagry Local Government, Mr Babatunde Hunpe, has restated his administration’s commitment to improving education in the council area.

Hunpe gave the assurance during an inspection tour of the General Certificate Examination (GCE) coaching centres organised by the council for beneficiaries of its free GCE forms.

He urged the students to make the best use of the opportunity to excel academically and build a strong foundation for their future.

“This programme is part of our continuous effort to invest in the future of Badagry through education.

“Our goal is not just to give out GCE forms but to monitor your progress, guide your performance, and ensure that those who do well are supported even further,” he said.

Hunpe said that students who perform excellently would be given priority when the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms are available, adding that the council would also assist them through the admission process.

He also pledged that the council would continue to reward outstanding performance and provide financial assistance to deserving students.

The Chairman, Education Committee, Prof. Pius Gbenu, briefed the council boss on the progress made so far and the strategies put in place to ensure the students’ success.

He noted that the council adopted a long-term approach to train, mentor, and monitor the students’ performance, while the best-performing candidates would benefit from the Council’s Endowment and Scholarship Fund for Outstanding Students.

“Education remains our strongest tool for development, and we will keep investing in it for the progress of Badagry,” Gbenu said.

Supreme news reports that Hunpe was accompanied on the visit by the council’s Vice-Chairman, Alhaji Akeem Adeyemi, and the Chief of Staff, Mr Towolawi Taiwo.

The visit aimed at assessing the effectiveness of the programme and motivating the students.
