"If the bridge is constructed, it will take about three minutes to drive, and this will save us between five and six hours."

The Aholu of Ajara Agamathen Kingdom, Aholu Agano Toniyon 1, has appealed to the Lagos and Ogun State governments to construct an interstate bridge between Tohon in Badagry and Ipokia in Ogun State.

The traditional ruler made the appeal during his 60th birthday anniversary at his palace in Ajara-Agamathen, Badagry, on Tuesday.

According to him, the link bridge will ease transportation, reduce stress, and save time spent from Badagry to Ipokia.

“It is sad to know that if you are going to Ipokia from Badagry by road, you have to go through Agbara to Atan to Idi-Iroko to Ipokia, and it takes between five and six hours.

“If the bridge is constructed, it will take about three minutes to drive, and this will save us between five and six hours.

“The interstate bridge will also motivate the farmers to increase their produce and eventually boost commercial activities in both local government areas.

“The two states should look into the matter and construct this bridge for the benefit of all,” he said.

The royal father urged the federal and Lagos State governments to fast-track the construction of Badagry Deep Sea Port.

He said that the project would enhance their maritime activities and attract foreign investment.

On the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, the traditional ruler appealed to the contractor handling the project to completethe first lane to ease the pain of those plying the road.

Toniyon 1 urged the governments of Lagos, Ogun, and members of the national assembly to work on his request for the benefit of the people.

He prayed for the successful swearing-in of the president-elect on May 29 and that God should use him to transform the nation.

He thanked other traditional rulers, chairmen of Badagry LG and LCDAs, and other associates, families, and well-wishers that graced the occasion.
