School Feeding: Adeniji solicits traditional rulers’ support
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on School Feeding, Dr Yetunde Adeniji, has said the support of traditional rulers was necessary for the success of Federal Government’s National Home-Grown Feeding Programme.
Adeniji said this during courtesy visits to the Emir of Borgu, Dr. Mohammed Dantoro and the Ejeh Ankpa IV, Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed Yakubu.
In a statement issued on Monday her aide, Mr. Oyewumi Oyedokun, quoted Adeniji as reiterating Bola Tinubu administration’s commitment to inclusiveness to ensure that all children accessed nutritious meals and quality education.
The statement also said Adeniji noted both royal fathers’ emphasis on implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, reflecting the importance of ensuring the programme operated smoothly and achieved its objectives.
“By soliciting support from influential figures like the Emir of Borgu Kingdom and the Eje of Ankpa IV, the Senior Special Assistant, and her team are taking steps to strengthen the programme”, it said.
According to the statement, Dantoro expressed his commitment to providing continuous support for the school feeding programme of the Tinubu administration.
He, however, raised concerns regarding the challenges facing the programme, emphasising that effective implementation, monitoring, and evaluation are crucial for its sustainability.
Dantoro also highlighted the importance of meeting the expectations of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President in the overall implementation of the school feeding program
On his part, the Ejeh Ankpa expressed joy in Tinubu’s commitment to end hunger and ensure that vulnerable children were catered for under the programme.
“He, therefore, promised his unflinching support in achieving the success of the programme,” the statement said.
