Kaula said that the awardee was among the 1,499 teachers across the country who submitted their applications to participate in the Educational Trust Fund Annual Teacher Award, with funds from Maltina Company.

Gov. Dikko Radda of Katsina State has congratulated Malam Usman Yahaya-Tama for emerging as the ‘2023 Maltina Teacher of the Year’.

A statement issued by the governor’s spokesman, Mr. Ibrahim Kaula, quoted him as saying, “Mr. Yahaya-Tama has attracted exquisite fame to himself and shining glory to the state.

“Gov. Radda received the news of Yahaya-Tama’s best teacher award with a deep sense of fulfilment that the efforts of successive administrations and that of his to fix the Katsina public education system are now yielding fruits.

“His Excellency is exceedingly pleased with the personal honour gotten by Mr. Yahaya-Tama and extends his heartfelt felicitations not only to him but to the management, staff, and students of GDSSS Natsinta, Army Barrack, Katsina, where he teaches geography.”

Kaula said that the awardee was among the 1,499 teachers across the country who submitted their applications to participate in the Educational Trust Fund Annual Teacher Award, with funds from Maltina Company.

The objective is to celebrate classroom teachers and recognise their efforts towards uplifting educational quality through service delivery across the country.

“Yahaya-Tama, who is an indigene of Bindawa Local Government, was born and raised in Katsina.

“By emerging as the state champion of the 2023 Maltina Teacher of the Year, the geography teacher has proven that nothing can stop Katsina teachers.

“Particularly those working in public schools from achieving stardom in their profession, in so far they are determined and hardworking.

“Our administration will continue to prioritise the welfare of teachers.

“We shall not relent in organising capacity buildings for our teachers, locally and internationally, even as we are doing a lot to enhance their welfare so as to boost their morale,” Radda said.
