Protesters marched from the NLC offices behind the Ministry of Finance in Abuja, with many carrying signs that addressed the country's economic plight.

Workers affiliated with the Nigeria Labour Congress pledged on Tuesday to hold statewide protests against what they described as hunger in the country.

The much-talked-about protests have begun in Abuja, Lagos, Ibadan, and other towns, with thousands of people taking to the streets to express their unhappiness with the worsening situation of the economy.


Protesters marched from the NLC offices behind the Ministry of Finance in Abuja, with many carrying signs that addressed the country's economic plight.

At the time of writing, demonstrators in Lagos, led by NLC State Council Chairman Comrade Funmilayo Sessi, were marching towards the Alausa seat of government.


PROTESTERS STORM NATIONAL ASSEMBLY, DEMAND AKPABIO’S ATTENTION


Protesters entered the National Assembly compound on Tuesday to express their dissatisfaction with the situation of the economy. Protesters yelled the name of Senate President Godswill Akpabio and demanded an address from him.


Diket Plang, chairman of the Senate Committee on Labour, attempted to address the demonstrators, but they rejected his speech, stating that they wished to hear from the Senate President himself.

Senator Plang, however, vowed to transmit the demonstrators' message to the Senate President.
