Mrs Adachukwu Okafor, a lawyer who has been on the run since allegedly abusing her 10-year-old housekeeper, has been apprehended by police.

Ohaeri Joseph, Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Women Affairs, stated that the lawyer allegedly brutalised the girl with a broken bottle.

Other weapons used to harm the housekeeper included a knife and an electric pressing iron.

The ministry had previously offered a N2 million prize for any information about the lawyer, who vanished after a video of her misdeeds went viral.


"Days after the Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Uju Ohanenye, placed a N2 million bounty on the Onitsha-based lawyer for child abuse, she was arrested."

"The lady's actions, which went viral on numerous social media sites, were accused to have caused bodily harm to the minor.

"The lady has been on the run for weeks after being reported to have inflicted severe injuries on the minor which prompted the minister to place a reward of N2 million for information on her whereabout," the minister stated.

Ohaeri emphasised the ministry's commitment to collaborating with the NPF to conduct an immediate investigation into the incident.
