Taiwo Odebiyi, a pastor from Ogun State, reportedly set fire to a 21-year-old woman named Sukura Owodunni during a deliverance session.

Supreme News has learned that the incident occurred on August 17, 2023, at the Cherubim and Seraphim Maberu Parish in Offin, Sagamu, Ogun State.

At the pastor's invitation, the victim visited the church for a special prayer, and she was instructed to purchase Amazing Grace perfume, local eggs, and a candle for the deliverance.


According to Punch, the pastor poured perfume on the woman's body while praying for her and then lit a candle.


Unexpectedly, Owodunni's clothing caught fire, resulting in severe burns to her torso, shoulders, and legs.

After the Divisional Police Officer in Adigbe, CSP Abdulfattah Ogunsanya, and his men stormed the building, according to an eyewitness, the suspect was promptly apprehended.

SP Omolola Odutola, the state police public relations officer, confirmed the incident on Wednesday and stated that the victim was left to pay for her own medical expenses.

She mentioned that the suspect had been apprehended and that further investigation into the case's circumstances had begun.

Odutola said, "The lady was reportedly left to pay her own medical bills after the incident." The victim has been transported to the hospital for treatment.

"Our men have taken the suspect into custody. Upon completion of the preliminary investigation, the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
