“That is why I am saying politics, electioneering are over and this President Bola Tinubu-led government deserves commendation because these are projects awarded under President Muhammad Buhari.”

Chief Samuel Onuigbo, Member representing the South East on the Governing Board of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), has commended the Federal Government for the progress in the Umuahia-Ikwuano-Ikot Ekpene Road reconstruction project.

Onuigbo gave the commendation during an interactive session with journalists in Umuahia on Sunday.

He said that the government “deserved recognition and commendation for maintaining an admirable momentum in ensuring that its projects were executed.”

Onuigbo, a former member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency, Abia, expressed satisfaction about the progress reports on the projects he facilitated.

He said, “The Umuahia-Ikwuano-Ikot Ekpene Federal Road that I facilitated is ongoing at a very good pace.

“Then, the road project from Achingali through Umunwawa to Ubakala is also ongoing.

“They are even constructing a bridge across the Imo River, and these were things that were destroyed during the Civil War.

“That is why I am saying politics and electioneering are over, and this President Bola Tinubu-led government deserves commendation because these are projects awarded under President Muhammad Buhari.”

Onuigbo, who is the NEDC Committee Chairman for Security, Climate Change, and Special Interventions, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government and Gov. Alex Otti for their commitments in the construction of a Federal Secretariat in Umuahia.

The chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) specifically praised Otti for providing quality leadership and paying compensation for economic crops to the secretariat’s host community.

“It was the same compensation that I continued to ask the previous administration for for over four years, but they failed to do so.

“In fact, that was what frustrated the Federal Government from commencing that work,” he said.

Supreme News reports that the former federal lawmaker spoke on other topical issues, including the progress made by the commission.
