Minister of Power Escapes Death Narrowly After Aeroplane Crash

"At about 0825hrs of 03/11/2023, an aircraft with registration number 5N-AMM that convey the incumbent minister of power, Abdul Waheed Adebayo Adelabu, and his entourage crash-landed along runway 22 and skid off the runway into a nearby bush."

Adebayo Adelabu, Minister of Power, and his entourage averted death when a private plane they were on crashed in Ibadan, Oyo State's capital.

The event happened on Friday evening, when a plane with the registration number 5N-AMM landed in the woods. There were no fatalities because the three cabin crew members and seven passengers were all removed from the damaged plane.

According to a preliminary report on the occurrence, the plane was still in the forest at runway 22.

"Around 0825hrs on 03/11/2023, an aircraft carrying the incumbent minister of power, Abdul Waheed Adebayo Adelabu, and his entourage crashed-landed along runway 22 and skidded off the runway into a nearby bush."

"The control tower reported on radio that he had lost contact with the recently landed aircraft and immediately called on the ARFFS, the AVSEC, and other airport officials, who arrived almost immediately."


"All three cabin crews and seven passengers were rescued from the damaged aircraft." All attempts to obtain information from the pilot were futile. The NAF airport commandant and his team were also present.

"As of the time of filling out this report, the aircraft is still in the bush at runway 22, while the security personnel of both the AVSEC, ARFFS, Airport Safety Team, and NAF team were on standby for cover," according to the report.
