According to residents, the victims were purportedly murdered as a result of the kidnappers' 'delay' in receiving the ransom payment.

Three of the ten people who were kidnapped on January 7 from an estate in Sagwari Layout, Dutse, Abuja, have been reported to have died.

The development, according to sources, may serve as a dire warning to family members who are negotiating ransom payments.

Concurrently with the recent development, information surfaced that the criminals' demand per individual has increased from N60 million to N100 million, for a grand total of N700 million.

According to residents, the victims were purportedly murdered as a result of the kidnappers' 'delay' in receiving the ransom payment.

Folorunsho Ariyo, a 13-year-old secondary school student, was among those who died, according to information gathered.

According to reports that surfaced last Sunday, the kidnappers, who were also active in certain villages in Bwari, murdered one of the six abducted individuals in order to coerce the family into paying the ransom immediately.

Dutse falls within the jurisdiction of the Federal Capital Territory's Bwari Area Council.

Residents of Sagwari Layout have finalised preparations for a massive demonstration against the government and security agencies' alleged indifference in rescuing their relatives in light of the unfortunate development.

The demonstration, which was originally scheduled for Monday, was rescheduled to Tuesday in observance of Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

Attempts to obtain a response from SP Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), proved fruitless due to her unresponsiveness to both phone calls and text messages.
