In an exclusive interview with news reporters, the student's brother—who wished to remain anonymous to avoid being attacked by the kidnappers—confirmed that the kidnappers had not yet made any demands of the family or interacted with them.

The mother of a kidnapped student from the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, who was taken together with 29 other students while driving on the Abuja-Nasarawa Highway, requested help from the federal government to free her son.

Approximately thirty passengers, including some Federal Polytechnic of Nasarawa students, were kidnapped by kidnappers on Friday along the Abuja-Nasarawa Highway, according to a Supreme News article published on Monday.

Due to the seriousness of the issue, our correspondent learned on Sunday that the kidnappers reportedly besieged the vehicles carrying the tourists and took them into a nearby bush in the Uke region of Nasarawa State. The source begged for anonymity.

The source stated further that a student among the abductees was travelling to her family in Abuja.

The event was reported to the local police by the driver of one of the buses, who was believed to have managed to escape the attack.

However, the student's mother, who went by the simple name Madam Stock, told reporters on Monday that she was surprised to learn of her daughter's kidnapping.

She emphasised that the event had saddened her, particularly because the kidnappers had not been in touch with her.

"We spoke on Thursday, and she informed me that there is an ongoing strike at her school," she said. I paid her N5,000 for her return transportation, only to find out later that she had been kidnapped.

"I've only been exposed to news reports about kidnapping, but I never imagined that someone close to me would fall prey. I'm pleading with the police to assist me in rescuing my daughter.

"The fact that her brother went to the police station and learned that the kidnappers had contacted other family members but not us, worries me. I should get assistance from the government.

In an exclusive interview with news reporters, the student's brother—who wished to remain anonymous to avoid being attacked by the kidnappers—confirmed that the kidnappers had not yet made any demands of the family or interacted with them.

He lamented that the family had been troubled since the incident had happened.

He said, “We have yet to receive any call or message from them to know what they want. When I visited the police station, I gathered that some families of other persons who were abducted have been contacted and asked to pay N10m for each individual.

"The tragedy has caused sorrow for the family, and we hope that the authorities will act soon to free the abducted individuals. We are begging the police and the federal government to assist us in rescuing our unharmed relatives."

Attempts to obtain an update on the event from the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, Rahman Nansel, were unsuccessful since he did not answer to messages sent to his line.

But he told our journalist on Sunday night that a rescue mission was underway.

"An 18-seater bus was found on the scene, and three persons were saved. "A search and rescue operation is still underway," he had stated.
