Alao also noted that Tunji-Ojo had cleared a total of 204,332 passport backlogs and over 50,000 new ones within a short time.

An NGO, Youth Democratic Vanguard , has commended the Minister of Interior, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his innovative and rapid reforms in his ministry and Nigeria’s internal security in general.

The group’s Chairman, Muraina Alao, gave the commendation in a statement issued by its Spokesperson, Mr Folashade Ajidabde, and made available to newsmen on Thursday in Osogbo.

Alao said that the ongoing reforms in the ministry of interior, under the minister’s watch, were in line with the President Bola Tinubu-led administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He commended the president for committing huge resources to the ministry to drive his administration’s renewed hope agenda.

Alao highlighted some of the minister’s achievements to include: passport automation, he said, had made passport processes faster and easier, and which could be completed online.

“This can save people’s time and money, and it can also reduce the risk of corruption and bribery,” he said.

Alao also noted that Tunji-Ojo had cleared a total of 204,332 passport backlogs and over 50,000 new ones within a short time.

“Also, the release of 4,068 inmates, comprising the convicts sentenced to various terms of imprisonment with options of fine and compensation in custodial status nationwide, among others, were also part of his achievements,” he said.

According to him, the success recorded by the minister is a reflection of the president’s leadership style and the effectiveness of his administration.

Alao, however, urged Tinubu not to listen to the antics of those he described as fifth columnists, regarding the ongoing issues surrounding the ministry of interior and the minister himself.
