Group develops plans to narrow widening gap between rich, poor

The Peoples Alternative Political Movement (TPAP-M), a political association, has called for the need to close the widening gap between the rich and the poor in Nigeria.
This is contained in a statement by Mr. Jaye Gaskia and Prof. Omotoye Olorode, members of the TPAP-M Secretariat, on Tuesday in Abuja.
The group said it would not relent in its effort to free Nigerians from the menace of widening inequality.
It said as political parties intensified their campaigns ahead of the 2023 general elections, it would continue to advocate for a system that would free Nigerians from the "shackles of devastating capitalism."
It said as build up to the election, it would engage candidates to public debates to know their agenda for the masses, who had suffered from elite capitalism over the years.
The group urged media organizations to provide their platforms for interviews and programs to make the case for a workable system in Nigeria.
TPAP-M said it inaugurated a 50-member campaign organization on Nov. 9 as part of efforts to champion the cause of the poor.
It said the campaign organization, which would be chaired by Prof. Omotoye Olorode, had nine committees.
According to the statement, some of the committees are on education and research, humanitarian aid, social intervention, and community support.
Others, according to the statement, are the Public Sector Committee, the Contact and Grassroots Committee, and the Media and Public Communications Committee.
Meanwhile, members of the organization are Mr. Jaye Gaskia, National Coordinator, National Spokesperson, and Chairman, Public Sector; and Mr. Okon Ekanem, Vice Chairman, South.
Others are Hauwa Mustapha, Deputy National Coordinator and Deputy National Spokesperson and also Chairman, Socialist Transformation of Nigeria (CAST) Stakeholders Committee.
