The Lagos State Police Command has responded to threats made against the Igbo by Musiliu Akinsanya, nicknamed MC Oluomo, chairman of the Lagos State Parks Management Committee, prior to the gubernatorial election.

On Friday, the Lagos Police Commissioner, Idowu Owohunwa, provided a response on Arise Television's Newsday programme.

In viral videos, MC Oluomo had threatened Igbo in Lagos who do not support his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, to remain home during tomorrow's governorship election.

"We beseeched them. If they do not choose to vote for us, there is no fight. "Tell them, mother Chukwudi, to stay home if they do not wish to vote for us," he urged.

In his response, Owohunwa stated that the video clips are being evaluated and that an inquiry into the threats is ongoing.

He stated, "Yeah, I can confirm that every video footage is being reviewed." Statements, allegations, and threats are the focus of an ongoing investigation. And as we move forward, if facts are uncovered that contradict a section of the law, nobody is above the law in this nation.

The law governs our existence and binds us to one another. No one can be above the law when it comes to the political process. Thus, if these allegations are proven true, you can rest assured that the relevant criminal and legal processes will be taken against the specific actors."
