Doctor requests to be Ooni of Ife's eighth wife

Bella Nifemi, a female physician from the state of Ekiti, has submitted an application to the Ooni of Ife, His Royal Highness, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, to become his eighth wife.

The news of Ooni's ongoing marriages to various ladies preceded the young, stunning woman's application to the influential monarch. If chosen as Ooni's wife, the marriage candidate pledged to uphold Twitter and the Ekiti community.

The 48-year-old Ife paramount monarch appears to have recently gone on a marriage binge as he is reportedly being married to his seventh wife, Aridunu, this weekend, on Saturday, October 29, 2022.

The Ooni married Mariam Anako and Dr. Elizabeth Akinmuda in September of last year. In addition, he wed Princess Temitope Adesegun, Queen Ashley, Queen Ronke Ademiluyi, and Queen Tobi Phillips.

The Ile-Ife king had given an explanation of why he married Mariam Anako and the others while commemorating his seventh coronation and 48th birthday celebration. The royal father added that he attempted to modify his traditional kingdom but was unsuccessful.

The Ooni was probably alluding to his decision to remain monogamous in the palace by only remaining wed to one queen as opposed to keeping a harem and chain of "side chicks" as most monarchs in his customary stature frequently do.

"This institution is bigger than me, beyond me," he said. More than 800, almost 1,000 people are housed in this palace. Some residents of this palace have been here for more than 60 years, while others have done so for more than 80. In this palace, some residents are over 100 years old.
