The Aero flight experienced a mechanical failure in mid-flight and was forced to return to Abuja.

Nigeria avoided a potential air disaster on Wednesday after an Aero Contractors passenger plane heading for Port Harcourt and taking off from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja had to return to base for an emergency landing earlier.

According to News Express, the incident, which would have added to Nigeria's long history of flying accidents, occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, April 5, 2023, citing CKN News, another famous online paper, which described how a passenger on the flight revealed the information.

The stated passenger was cited as saying that the terrified passengers landed safely after the plane, which was already on its way when the captain spotted certain flaws and decided to return to base, encouraging Nigerians to thank God that nothing bad happened.

According to the portal, the unidentified passenger said, "Good morning, Kindly thank God for saving my colleague and I from what would have been an air catastrophe on our trip to Port-Harcourt." The Aero flight experienced a mechanical failure in mid-flight and was forced to return to Abuja. To God's glory, we arrived safely."
