The Polytechnic, Auchi in Edo on Wednesday matriculated 9,050 students for the 2020/2021 academic session.

Mr Mustaphar Zubair, the Ag. Rector of the institution, said at the 39th matriculation ceremony, the polytechnic had zero tolerance for cultism, examination malpractice and other vices.

Zubair said the polytechnic would not hesitate to expel any student found wanting in this regard.

“I want to remind you that the polytechnic does not encourage cultism and it does not encourage any form of exam malpractice.

“If you are caught breaching examination rules, the consequence is rustication or expulsion from the school,’’ he said.

Zubair said that a total of 9,050 students were admitted into the institution, out of which 5,755 would pursue National Diploma (ND) and 3,295 were for the Higher National Diploma (HND) courses.

He urged the students to imbibe dialogue, peaceful co-existence, discipline and hard work to excel in their studies.

He gave the assurance that the staff and management would provide the enabling environment for students to excel.

“Management intends to sustain the high academic standards for which the polytechnic is known for.

“To ensure we remain at the top, management will continue to provide facilities and infrastructure that will make the learning environment conducive for you.

“I want to congratulate you for being found worthy to be admitted into Auchi poly,’’ he said.
