Thailand has begun to reduce quarantine requirements for travelers arriving in the country, the Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday.
Foreign Ministry spokesman, Tanee Sangrat said Thais and foreigners who have received a COVID-19 vaccine and can provide a vaccination certificate have to spend seven days in quarantine at state-approved hotels.
Travellers who have not been vaccinated are required to spend 10 days in quarantine, Tanee said.
The lowered quarantine requirements do not apply to those coming from some African countries with coronavirus variants, who will have to spend 14 days in quarantine.
Tanee named a list of vaccines approved by the Health Ministry which included those by Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Moderna, and the Serum Institute of India.
Thailand’s tourism industry, which typically accounts for over 10 per cent of the economy, has been heavily hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
