Mr Adeniyi Adekalu, Head Coach of Sunshine Spikers Volleyball Club of Akure, says his side will not accept anything other than the 2021 Volleyball Premier League trophy.

Adekalu asserted on Friday in Abuja that the team’s current supremacy in the game would prevail in the premier league.

Supreme reports that the Ondo State team won the volleyball competition at the 2018 National Sports Festival (NSF) in Abuja.

Sunshine Spikers gained promotion to the premier league after winning Men Division One Volleyball League in 2019.

The team also won gold medal at the just concluded NSF in Edo in April.

Adekalu said the team had been training hard to win all their games in their first appearance in the premier league.

“We have been training on daily basis ahead of the league. We gave our players one week to rest after the National Sports Festival in Edo.

“We will prove our greatness in the first and second phase of the premier league to show our supremacy in the game.

“We learnt that the league will kick off next month. We are waiting for the Federation to officially announce the date.

“Our target is to lift the trophy and make the state proud,” the coach said.

He added that the state government had given the team the necessary support to achieve a good result.
