Former Super Eagles star, John Utaka, on Thursday in Abuja, unveiled a renewed commitment to empower Nigerian youths through sports and education under the John Utaka Foundation ( JUF).

Supreme news reports that the non-governmental organisation aims to provide underprivileged children with access to quality education, mentorship, and sporting opportunities that can transform their lives.

Founded by John Chukwudi Utaka, the Foundation continues to champion youth development, community service, and social inclusion through a range of impactful initiatives.

Speaking at the launch of the Foundation’s 2025 Programmes, Utaka said the initiative was inspired by his belief that every child deserves a fair chance to succeed, regardless of background or circumstance.

“Imagine a world where every child has access to quality education and opportunities to thrive. “At the John Utaka Foundation, we are dedicated to turning that vision into reality,” he said.

According to him, the foundation focuses on promoting education, sportsmanship, and community service across Nigeria.

“ It also provides a platform for nurturing young talents, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, while fostering discipline, teamwork, and social inclusion.

“The foundation’s work revolves around three key areas ; football development, sports development and community support.

“ Through its football academy, the foundation trains young players, instills discipline, and promotes teamwork and healthy living.

“ It also organises local and international competitions to showcase Nigerian talent and provide global exposure among young athletes,” he said.

He said that beyond sports , the foundation delivers community support programmes, donating educational materials, sports equipment, food, toiletries, and other essentials to children and families in need.

“ Every donation helps sustain and expand the programmes and with your support, we can provide educational resources, equip our football academy with modern facilities, and organize tournaments that inspire hope and inclusion,” he said.

He called on individuals, corporate organisations, and international partners to join the foundation in building a brighter future for Nigerian youths.

“ Together, we can build a better future for Nigeria and Africa’s next generation. Every naira counts, your contribution brings us one step closer to transforming lives,” he said.

As part of its 2025 activities, the foundation is raising funds to sponsor its male and female youth football teams on a life-changing football and educational tour to France.

Utaka said the tour goes beyond football matches; it represents exposure, cultural exchange, and personal development for the participating youths.

“ It’s a chance for our young players to learn, grow, and be seen on an international stage and your support today will help shape the champions of tomorrow.

“ The foundation has partnered with educational institutions including Newgate University and Brighter Schools, located along Western Bypass Road in Minna, Niger, to enable young footballers to combine sports with academics.

“ This initiative will give youths the opportunity to balance football with education and to take their skills beyond the shores of Nigeria,” he said.

He said the foundation recently signed a partnership agreement with ASPTT Montpellier of France to collaborate on football development, talent recruitment, and player training.

Utaka appealed to Nigerians and friends of the Foundation around the world to support the initiative through donations and advocacy.

“Imagine if 100,000 Nigerians each donated just ₦1,000 — together, we could change countless lives,” he said. “We are looking for 500,000 Nigerians to support this dream with a donation of ₦1,000 or more.

“Supporters can donate through the Foundation’s GoFundMe campaign or directly via the official bank account:

Please donate and share to help us empower the next generation.

Utaka expressed optimism that continued public and private support will help the foundation expand its reach and create lasting impact in communities across Nigeria.

“ This is about giving every child a fair start in life,” he said. “When we invest in education and sports, we are investing in the future of our nation.”
