The body will extend the materials to other areas affected subsequently, with a view to making people feel better and seeing reasons to come closer to God.

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) said on Thursday it had concluded plans to assist communities ravaged by the recent flood in the states of Kogi and Bayelsa to enable them to overcome the challenges.

The Christian body made the statement at its last quarterly executive meeting for 2022, held at its headquarters in Isolo, Lagos state.

The Supreme in Lagos reports that some states in Nigeria, mostly those within the River Benue belt, were submerged weeks ago when the Cameroonian dam was opened to dispel its content.

The communities that lost farmlands, houses, lives, and other properties since then have been at the mercy of others and their own bodies to survive the disaster.

Speaking at the event, the PFN Deputy President, Archbishop John-Praise Daniel, who represented the President of PFN, Bishop Francis Wale-Oke, said that the body deliberated, among other things, on the way forward for the body as well as national issues as they affect PFN.

Daniel said that the body was moved with compassion to relieve the flood victims' sufferings with items and materials to help them recover.

According to him the choice of the two states was not the final in the body's works of charity for the victims.

"The body will extend the materials to other areas affected subsequently, with a view to making people feel better and seeing reasons to come closer to God."

"As a body, we compassionately made the donation from all our branches, and these will be given to the homeless victims to enable them to build back their homes," he said.

He encouraged people to call on God in times of trouble for a solution, adding that the body would continue to remember the people in prayers for spiritual and physical well-being.

He said that the items to be donated included foodstuffs, toiletries, building materials, medical supplies, and clothes.

The items will be given to the communities starting on Saturday.
