A rap artiste, Okechukwu Emmanuel, popularly known as ‘Slow Dog’ has expressed dismay at the recent exodus of upcoming artists from the South East zone of the country.

Emmanuel made the observation while speaking with Newsmen in Enugu on Tuesday.

He noted that most of the young and emerging artistes that caught their fire of fame would stay in the South-East if there was a deliberate investment in entertainment and show promotions to constantly showcase them.

Emmanuel revealed that many artistes making waves in the country, especially in Lagos State, are from the South-East extraction.

“You might not easily get their real identity due to the stage names they are known for or a times their constant collaboration with artistes of other region extraction, where they do collabos.

“However, if the government, investors and philanthropists can invest in more radio and television platforms and more shows/entertainment promotions; I believe more of them will be around and showcase their God-given talents here,’’ he said.

Okechukwu urged governments, investors and philanthropists in the South East to invest in entertainment to encourage and create jobs for talented youths in the zone.

The artiste noted that Nigeria’s entertainment, in terms of music and home-movie (Nollywood), is currently ruling the world.

“Music and home-movie have made Nigeria a country to reckon with internationally and our artistes, especially these young and emerging ones, are taking creativity to higher level.

“The world has come to accept our afro-highlife-pop genre, which most Nigeria artistes are into.

“The creativity that goes into our music instrumental sounds stands us out anywhere in the world,’’ he added.
