The Police Command in Kaduna State has warned residents of Kaura and Zango Kataf local government areas of the state against flouting the 24-hour curfew imposed in the area by the state government.

A statement by the command said that Mr Umar Muri, the Commissioner of Police in the state, gave the warning while giving update on the enforcement of the curfew in the two areas.

In the statement signed by the command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Mohammed Jalige on Friday, the commissioner warned that anyone caught flouting the curfew would be prosecuted.

Supreme reports that the curfew was imposed by the state government following a clash over farmland in Atyap and Chawai chiefdoms in the two local government areas.

Muri explained that although security agents have brought down the rising tension in the area, the state government has extended the curfew to cover the entire local governments of Zangon Kataf and Kaura. He said that the move was to forestall further breakdown of law and order and escalation of the crisis.

The police commissioner called on the general public to ensure peaceful coexistence, especially as the farming season had commenced, so as to have uninterrupted farming activities.
