The police, on Thursday, arraigned two businessmen, Hosea Chetukpo and Adebayo Akali, before a Zuba Upper Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing 480 birds, valued at N1.4 million.

Chetukpo, 35 and Akali, 45, both residents of Sabon Anagada village, Zuba, Abuja, were docked on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and theft.
The Prosecutor, Mr Chinedu Ogada, told the court that the complainant, Fattah Lugman Temi Intergrated Farm, of Sabon Anagada village, Zuba, Abuja, reported the matter at the Zuba Police Station on Dec. 3, 2020.
Ogada said that the defendants and one Sunday John, now at large, on the same date, criminally conspired and trespassed into the complainant’s farm at Anagada village.
He said that the defendants stole the complainant’s 480 birds, valued at N1.4 million.

Ogada said that during police investigation, the defendants could not give satisfactory accounts of themselves and all efforts to recover the birds proved abortive.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 97 and 287 of the Penal Code.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.
The Judge, Gambo Garba, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with a surety each in like sum.
He, thereafter, adjourned the case till March 18, for hearing.
