Nigeria Mixed Martial Arts Federation (NMMAF) on Monday congratulated Nigerian female Kick-boxer, Loveth Young, for winning the Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) World Championship in the United States.

Henry George, President of NMMFA, told Newsmen in Lagos that the federation was excited over the victory.

He said that Young’s emergence as the first Nigerian to have won the LFA championship would encourage other athletes to become more focused in training.

“NMMAF is proud of Young and as the president of the federation, I am using this opportunity to encourage more female athletes not to give up easily.

“I also want to invite more women in Nigeria to embrace mixed martial arts,” he said.

George said that Young was a Nigerian-trained athlete, who had done the federation proud.

“Young, before her relocation to the United States was one of our best in kick-boxing and Kung-fu.

“She had won gold medals in National Sports Festival in Kung-fu and Boxing.

“I am very positive that this win will encourage a lot of our athletes to do more in this aspect,” he said.

He encouraged upcoming athletes to give more of themselves to the sports to excel like Young.

Supreme reports that Young defeated Reena Norville of the United States in the first round in Park City Kansas, United States, on Oct.30.
