An Ilorin based legal practitioner, Mr Ganiyu Mohammed, has advocated for free medical treatment for children from age zero to 10 in the country. Mohammed made the call in Ilorin on Thursday in an interview in commemoration of Children’s Day celebration.
He said children deserve to enjoy free medical care as they are the future of the country.“Government at all levels should prioritise children health and start considering them for free medical treatment.“Establish children hospital across the country to treat children with health challenges. Every childfrom age zero to 10 should enjoy such privilege.
“Children are the future leaders. It is not all about free education. Give them free medical treatment and safe them from untimely death or long time sicknesses. “It is not a waste to invest on children health. Most parents can’t afford exorbitant medical bills which make them to lose their children at a very young age,” he said.
The lawyer, however, advised parents to ensure that they send their children to school instead of sending them to the streets to hawk. “It is every parent’s duty to train their children and not turn them to slavery all in the name of making money. Send them to school,” he advised.
