No fewer than 65 personnel of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Kwara Command, were on Friday trained on fire prevention and safety tips at the custodial centres.

Supreme reports that the training, which was at the instance of the Kwara Fire Service, was in continuation of its enlightenment programme to markets, government and private establishments on prevention of fire outbreaks.

The Head of Media and Publicity at the state Fire Service, Mr Hakeem Adekunle, urged the personnel of the correctional service to always handle all electrical gadgets with caution to prevent fire outbreaks in offices and prisons.

Among the fire safety tips, according to him, was to switch off and remove all electrical gadgets from the sockets at close of work on each day to guard against power surge whenever power is restored.

He advised them to always abide with all fire safety tips to curb cases of fire outbreaks in any of its formations in the state.

The state Director of Fire Service, Mr John Olumuyiwa, advised residents to always be fire safety conscious at all times.

Responding on behalf of the personnel, the Kwara Comptroller of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Alhaji Aliyu Baba-Usman, expressed gratitude to the state Fire Service for the enlightenment lecture.

He said that all the personnel of the service would abide with the fire safety tips to guard against fire outbreak.

Supreme reports that the lecture was attended by personnel of the service from all parts of the state.
