An Area Court sitting in Jos on Friday sentenced 18-year old Suleiman Adam to 3 months in prison for attacking and causing harm to a man.

A panel of two magistrates, Adam Sadiq and Hyacinth Dolnaan however, gave the convict an option of N10,000 fine after he pleaded guilty to the offence.

The panel also ordered the convict to pay N8000 as cost for hospital treatment for the victim.

They said the judgement would serve as deterrent to those who would want to indulge in such criminal act.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Ahmed Labaran, told the court that the case was reported on Jan. 26 at the “C”Division Police Station by one Dahiru Abdullahi.

The prosecutor said that the convict, with 8 others now at large, attacked the man, beat him and broke his left hand.

Prosecutor said the convict committed an offence contrary to section 59 377 and 216 of the Penal Code of Plateau Law.
