Osho said the defendant stole the complainant’s Tecno Spark phone, worth N53,300.

A 38-year-old man, Stephen Ugochukwu, was on Monday docked in a Karu Upper Area Court, sitting in Abuja for allegedly stealing a motorcyclist’s cell phone.

The defendant, who is an electrician is charged with theft.

He pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Olarewaju Osho, told the court that the complainant, Abdullahi Hassan, an “Okada rider” of Area ‘D’, Nyanya, Abuja reported the matter at the Nyanya Police Station on Jan. 29.

Osho said the defendant stole the complainant’s Tecno Spark phone, worth N53,300.

The counsel said that during police investigation, the defendant could not give satisfactory account of himself and had also confessed to the crime.

The judge, Malam Ishaq Hassan, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N70,000 and one surety in like sum.

Hassan adjourned the case until March 21 for hearing,
