He urged that the new administration should not interfere with the justice administration system in any manner.

A professor of law, Teddy Idiabeta, on Monday urged new President Bola Tinubu to protect the rule of law through obedience to court judgments by his administration.

Idiabeta,a Legal Tech Practice Consultant, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He reacted to Tinubu’s inaugural speech, in which he promised that his administration would be impartial and abide by the Constitution and the rule of law.

“To prove to Nigerians that he would obey the Constitution and the rule of law, he should not do anything against the judiciary,” the professor said.

He urged that the new administration not interfere with the justice administration system in any manner.

“We need all the assurances we can get,” he said.

On Tinubu’s proposal to remove fuel subsidies, Idiabeta said that the removal might be too early.

He advised that the new administration should critically review the situation and take into account the impact of a possible removal of fuel subsidies on the masses.

According to Idiabeta, who is also the founder of Professor Teddy Idiabeta Law Consult, the president should adequately fight crime and criminality.

“We are hoping that this new dispensation will not be anything like what we have witnessed in the past.”

NAN reports that Tinubu said in his inauguralspeech: “Our administration shall govern on your behalf but never rule over you.

“We shall consult and dialogue, but never dictate.

“We shall reach out to all but never put down a single person for holding views contrary to our own.

“We are here to further mend and heal this nation, not tear and injure.”
