Event manager docked for allegedly stealing employer’s N4.8m

A 40-year-old event manager, Bayo Adeniyi, was on Wednesday docked in a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing his employer’s N4.8million.
Adeniyi, who resides in Malali area of Kaduna, is charged with criminal breach of trust and theft.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that the matter was reported on Jan. 28 at the Gabasawa Police Station by the complainant, Mr Elisha Timoth, who lives in Ungwan Rimi in Kaduna.
He said that the complainant employed the defendant sometime in June 2024 to manage his event centre in Malali area of Kaduna.
He said the complainant later discovered sometime in November 2024 that the defendant allegedly received N4.8million from customers and diverted the money to his personal use.
All efforts made by the complainant to get his money back from the defendant, he said, failed.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.
He said the sureties must present two passport photographs each, their National Identity Cards and must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.
The magistrate further ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed with evidence of two years tax payment to the Kaduna State Government.
He adjourned the case until March 24, for hearing.
