The judge advised Abdu to engage the services of a competent lawyer to enable him have custody of the children and invite all his witnesses to court.

An Area Court sitting in Ilorin on Friday dissolved an Islamic marriage between Hajarat Abebi and Abdullahi Abdu after reconciliation efforts failed.

Delivering judgment, Malam AbdulQodir Ahmed, said that the relatives of the couple tried to settle the matter but all efforts failed.

"In the Holy Quran, Allah says; get two arbitrators from each of the family and let them try to settle the couple's misunderstanding." he held.

The judge advised Abdu to engage the services of a competent lawyer to enable him have custody of the children and invite all his witnesses to court.

He adjourned until Oct. 14, for hearing in the custody matter.

In her petition, Abebi prayed the court to award her custody of the children.

Abdu, however said, his wife can not take care of the children.
