Aluminium fabricator docked for refusing to pay for drinks

On June 4, the defendant went to Aromatic hotels and Garden, ordered drinks worth N43, 500 for his birthday party and refused to pay the hotel management their money.

An Aluminium fabricator, Lucky Iroka, was on Thursday docked in a Karu Grade I Area Court, Abuja for allegedly ordered drinks for his guests and refused to pay his bill.

The police charged Iroka, 26, who lives in Gidan Mangoro, Jikwoyi, with cheating.

The Prosecution Counsel, Ade Adeyanju told the court that on June 4, the defendant went to Aromatic hotels and Garden, ordered drinks worth N43, 500 for his birthday party and refused to pay the hotel management their money.

Adeyanju said during Police investigation the defendant did not give a satisfactory explanation as to why he did not pay.

The prosecutor said the matter was reported by Uchendu Mike of , Aromatic Hotel and Gardens Jikwoyi, Angwuan gede, Abuja.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 322 of the Penal Code.

Iroka, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence.

The Judge, Maiwada Inuwa admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

Inuwa ordered that the surety must be reasonable and reliable and must live within court jurisdiction.

He said the surety must submit valid means of Identification, Affidavit of diligence, and statement of account to the to be verified by the court Registry and the Police.

He adjourned the case until July 25, for further hearing.
