Pathfinder launches ‘women & Co.’ to empower Nigerian women, girls

Pathfinder International, an International NGO has launched Women & Co., a transformative initiative designed to place Nigerian women and girls at the forefront of health, climate and economic development solutions.
The initiative, unveiled in Abuja, sought to strengthen women’s leadership and create inclusive spaces where leaders, mentors and young girls can collaborate to drive sustainable change.
Dr Amina Dorayi, Senior Country Director, Pathfinder International, said that the programme aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Health Agenda, adding that women must be on the driver’s seat of Nigeria’s progress.
“Women are the solution and must be on the driver’s seat. We must be deliberate, intentional, and vocal in creating equal opportunities in health, education and leadership,” Dorayi said.
Dr Salma Anas, Special Adviser to the President on Health, said that the initiative reflects the government’s vision to ensure women and girls have access to quality healthcare, education and empowerment opportunities.
“We must act deliberately and raise our voices so that every girl has equal access to education, health and empowerment. We must build a future where women lead,” Anas said.
Mrs Hauwa Liman, Technical Adviser to the Vice President on Women, Youth Engagement and Impact, described the initiative as a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and youth development.
Liman noted that through the Vice President’s Youth Opportunity Survey, more than 80 per cent of participants were young women seizing empowerment opportunities across states.
“The future is bright for the Nigerian girl-child. We must prepare, mentor and position our young women to lead in every sphere,” he said.
Supreme news reports that participants at the event commended Pathfinder International for the initiative, describing Women & Co. as a bold call to action for Nigerian women to lead and co-create solutions to national challenges.
