Zumunta Association targets 1,000 Youths for ICT training in Nasarawa

A diaspora group, Zumunta Association, USA, says it will train 1,000 youths in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Nasarawa State as part of activities for its convention scheduled for July in the State.
Dr Salisu Abdullahi, a former President of the association revealed this when he led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr Yakubu Kwanta, on Friday in Lafia.
According to Abdullahi, the training is part of the Association’s commitment to giving back to the society.
“Zumunta Association USA has been consistent and we have been giving back to the society through empowerment programmes and the Governor of Nasarawa, Abdullahi Sule is a founding member of the association, who has been instrumental in its growth,” he said.
He explained that the Association would also organise a three-day medical outreach for residents of the state, to complement government efforts at proving healthcare services to the communities.
“We will bring a hybrid of investors to Nasarawa State considering its proximity to the Federal Capital Territory, coupled with the good roads and the relative peace in the State.
“We will also hold a golf tournament, where we hope to bring the best golfers across the globe to participate in the tournament. This will also bring investment in the sports sector,” Abdullahi added.
He said that the convention was being held in collaboration with the Federal Government.
Abdullahi appreciated the Commissioner for his warm reception the opportunity to interact him and share their plans.
Responding, the Commissioner, Kwanta, expressed the state government’s commitment to supporting the Zumunta Association USA’s convention.
He commended the association’s decision to host the convention in Nasarawa State given the prevailing security, infrastructural development, and peace in the State.
“I believe the hosting of the association’s convention in Nasarawa State is a deliberate act to honour Gov. Sule, who is one of you,” he said.
Kwanta assured the association of the state government’s support and cooperation in organising various activities including the golf tournament.
