PHCCIMA ready to partner NUJ on information dissemination – President

The Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) to enhance information dissemination in Rivers.
Dr Chinyere Nwoga, President of PHCCIMA, made this known in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Saturday by the Secretary of the NUJ, Rivers State Council, Dr Ijeoma Tubosia.
The statement reported that Nwoga made the remarks during a courtesy visit by a delegation of the NUJ executive, led by its Chairman, Paul Bazia.
Nwoga expressed confidence that the partnership with the NUJ would contribute meaningfully to improving the state’s business environment.
“We believe that our partnership with the union will help create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, particularly as the Chamber represents the interests of the private sector,” she stated.
She noted that out of the 72 registered chambers of commerce across Nigeria, PHCCIMA ranks second only to the Lagos Chamber.
Nwoga described Port Harcourt as a haven for investors and affirmed that PHCCIMA was committed to promoting the business environment in Rivers.
“Our mission is to enhance the ease of doing business in Rivers State.
“We are strategically focussed on business promotion and are collaborating with several organisations to ensure that businesses in the state thrive,” she added.
The PHCCIMA president also disclosed that the chamber had established partnerships with several embassies, which had facilitated easier access to business visas for entrepreneurs intending to travel abroad.
She expressed optimism that collaboration with the NUJ would reinvigorate the chamber’s outreach and public engagement efforts.
“I am confident that our partnership with the NUJ will lead to a better understanding of what the chamber represents and help businesses align with our mission.
“I have great respect for journalists because of the important work they do; unfortunately, they are often under-appreciated. I hope the society will come to value them more,” Nwoga concluded.
Earlier, Bazia affirmed that the NUJ was dedicated to supporting the growth of tourism an agriculture in Rivers.
He noted that the state possesses immense tourism potential and vast arable land, which, if properly harnessed, could significantly boost its economic fortunes.
According to Bazia, realising the potential of these sectors will require partnerships with key organisations such as PHCCIMA.
“The NUJ, a non-governmental organisation and non-profit organisation, is the umbrella body for journalists in Nigeria.
“As a platform, we have the reach and capacity to disseminate information to every corner of the country,” he stated.
The NUJ chairman also congratulated Nwoga on her historic appointment as the first female president of PHCCIMA since its establishment in 1957.
