He said that has never discussed with anyone that he would contest for any political position, not to even talk of contesting for the office of the Senator for Katsina Central.

The Chief of Staff to Gov. Aminu Masari of Katsina state, Alhaji Muntari Lawal, on Sunday, in Katsina, emphatically said he had no plans to contest for any political office in the 2023 elections. Lawal stated this in reaction to his posters being pasted around the state indicating his intention to contest for senator.

He said that has never discussed with anyone that he would contest for any political position, not to even talk of contesting for the office of the Senator for Katsina Central. He added that even if he were to be contesting, how could he contest the position which his in-law is occupying? He was not only his in-law, but also his neighbour.

He asked that if they could see the problem? So, they wanted to knock their heads together. Am not that type, he reiterated. It was an attempt to cause confusion or misunderstanding between them. And also, it was a calculated attempt to tarnished his image and that of the great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). Therefore, he said was not contesting for any political position, even in his house. He his always loyal to his boss, the governor, and also committed to his work.

He said that as his in-law after 2023 would be going back to the farm, the same thing applied to him, he emphasised his going back to the farm and continue with his life. According to Lawal, if such posters were circulated by his supporters, they were not being fair to him, because he was not consulted about his views on such a decision. He believed they don't mean well for him, and he believed as the 2023 elections are approaching, he believed more of such blackmail would come up.
