Mr Uko Umoh, the Chairman, Etinan Local Government Council, Akwa Ibom, has urged residents of the area to safeguard public infrastructure.

Umoh who made the call while speaking to newsmen in Etinan on Tuesday, said that proper maintenance of public infrastructure would make them to last longer.

He said that the council had implemented a good number of people oriented projects and programmmes in the past one year.

“During the period, we have constructed a state-of-the-art motor park in Etinan, this facility will boost transportation business and generate employment.

“Under my watch, the council has also renovated the Etinan Sports Stadium and rehabilitated five water facilities in the different communities,” he said.

The council chairman said that his administration had taken proactive measures to improve the education and health sectors among others.

Umoh said that the council had procured no fewer than 200,000 branded exercise books for distribution to all public primary schools in the area.

“The council has renovated a primary health centre, and graded rural roads to open communities up to the urban centre.

“We have donated mobility aids to physically challenged people, we want to see them happy and feeling included,” he said.

Umoh expressed his administration’s commitment to implementing more projects that would touch the lives of the people meaningfully.

“We urge our people to support us with inputs and suggestions that will enable us to serve better,” he said.
