Twenty All Progressives Congress members in the Ogun House of Assembly on Wednesday, affirmed their support for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid in 2027.
Speaking on behalf of the lawmakers at a news conference in Abeokuta, Mr Yusuf Sheriff , the Majority Leader, cited Tinubu’s bold reforms and massive infrastructural development across the country.
Sheriff stated that under Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria has recorded significant progress in economic stabilisation, fiscal reforms, and unprecedented infrastructure development, particularly in road construction connecting key economic corridors across the country.
The lawmaker explained that the achievements underscored the president’s commitment to repositioning the nation’s economy and strengthening national infrastructure.
He stated that these achievements make him deserving of another term to further consolidate the gains recorded so far.
Sheriff also declared the lawmakers’ unalloyed support for the gubernatorial ambition of Sen. Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.
According to him, the senator has distinguished himself as a seasoned legislator whose record in the National Assembly reflects competence, diligence, and a strong commitment to the welfare of the people.
He highlighted Adeola’s impactful legislative contributions, leadership in critical committees, and consistent advocacy for developmental projects and empowerment initiatives across Ogun state and beyond.
He added that Adeola’s vast experience in law-making, oversight, and governance positions him as a capable leader to advance the “Igbega Ipinle Ogun” agenda of Gov. Dapo Abiodun.
Sheriff disclosed that the assembly’s 20 progressive lawmakers expressed their commitment to support Gov. Abiodun in his next political pursuit after his tenure.
He emphasised that the governor’s wealth of executive experience and deep understanding of governance would remain invaluable in any capacity he chooses to serve in.
“Having successfully steered the affairs of Ogun state and delivered significant developmental strides, Abiodun is well positioned to continue contributing to governance and nation-building at higher levels.
“We reaffirm our commitment to the ideals of the APC and pledge continued support for leaders whose vision and track record align with the aspirations of the people of Ogun state and Nigeria,” he said.
Messer’s Olakunle Oluomo (Ogun central), Musefiu Lamidi (Ogun West) and Mrs Omolola Bakare (Ogun East), spoke on behalf of lawmakers from the three senatorial districts on reasons for the reaffirmation and endorsement.
