The Plateau Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has organised a sensitisation campaign for motorists on safety measures as part of activities to mark its 33rd anniversary.
Part of the event to mark the anniversary in Jos on Thursday was also a road show and motor park rallies to selected motor parks and fleet operators terminals within the metropolis.
The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Alphonsus Godwin, thanked the people of the state for the cooperation extended to the Command and its activities since inception.
Godwin encouraged citizens to imbibe good road culture and obey traffic rules and regulations, saying that would help in stemming the tide of road traffic crashes.
He said that safety was a shared responsibility and that all should be committed toward entrenching a safe motoring through the safe system approach.
“We want to thank the people of Plateau for their usual cooperation being extended to the command since inception, we don’t take it for granted.
“I want all of us to imbibe good road culture and obey traffic rules and regulations so that we can reduce the number of road traffic crashes.
“Safety is a shared responsibility and all should be committed toward entrenching a safe motoring through the safe system approach,” he said.
The sector commander appealed to motorists to avoid reckless driving, use of phone while driving, overloading, speeding and indiscriminate parking on the highways.
Other harmful practices he said, were lane indiscipline, driving with deficient vehicles, route violation, road obstruction, wrongful overtaking, underage driving and dangerous driving, amongst others.
