Sri Lanka make history monthly export revenue in November 2021

Sri Lanka's monthly merchandise export revenue for November 2021 was the highest in the country's history, state media citing data from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka reported on Thursday.
Sri Lanka's merchandise export revenue stood at $1.2 billion in November, marking it the sixth consecutive month where the country's export revenues crossed the one billion mark.
The country's merchandise trade deficit narrowed to $553 million in November compared to $600 million in the same period a year earlier.
However, the cumulative trade deficit from January to November widened to $7 billion.
Export earnings grew 54.6 per cent year-on-year in November, driven largely by the expansion of industrial goods at 56.6 per cent.
Product segments such as garments, petroleum products and rubber products contributed to the expansion.
Sri Lanka's gross official reserves stood at $1.6 billion at the end of November, enough to cover about a month of imports.
