Kherson is the only Ukrainian provincial capital that Russian troops had consistently held since the invasion began on Feb. 24.
A building used by the Russian occupiers in the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson was attacked by five Ukrainian missiles on Friday, leaving one person dead and another injured, Russian news agencies reported.
The Russian-installed deputy head of the regional administration, Yekaterina Gubareva, told reporters that the strikes occurred during a meeting of senior officials.
Kherson is the only Ukrainian provincial capital that Russian troops had consistently held since the invasion began on Feb. 24.
Ukrainian military forces aimed to recapture the city on the Dnipro river, which was home to some 300,000 people before the war, by the end of the year.
