Russia- Ukraine War: EU expects potential partners to support sanctions

EU on Monday said it was expecting all countries that wanted to have close relations with the bloc to align with the sanctions policy against Russia.

Eric Mamer, the chief spokesperson of the European Commission, during the EC midday briefing said "we expect all countries that want to have close relations with the EU to align on our sanctions policy.''

Western nations have rolled out a sanctions campaign against Russia after it launched a military operation in Ukraine, following requests for help from the breakaway republics in Donbas.

The Russian Defence Ministry said the operation was targeting the military infrastructure of Ukraine only and that the civilian population was not in danger.

Delegations from Russia and Kiev are holding talks in the Gomel region in Belarus, on the border with Ukraine
