China welcomes resumption of direct talks between Russia, Ukraine

China welcomed the resumption of direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, this was the result of joint efforts of the international community, the Chinese Foreign Ministry told RIA Novosti on Monday.

“China has supported the restoration of direct dialogue and negotiations between Russia and Ukraine from the very beginning and welcomes the recent resumption of direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine,’’ the ministry said.

The minster said this when he was commenting on the results of the talks in Istanbul.

China would continue to support all efforts that promote peace in Ukraine, the ministry added.
